About to install the VMWare Server and need to know how or if these requirements are already set:

- TheparallelportPC‐stylehardwareoption(CONFIG_PARPORT_PC)mustbe*

Those should be no problem but VMware server does not like the new Linux kernel. Some have gotten it to install but the process looks very complicated and prone to error. I gave up and installed VirtualBox. All in all I like it better then VMware.
Oooh! Ok! I will drop that project then… I have problems with VBox 3.0.12 freezing on me, Kernel Deamon Write failures and there was this other critical one…, Have not tried the latest version. Don’t have the confidence yet… Maybe next year or so… need to get my project up and running…
So I wanted to try VMWare, But, I am using the VMWare Player at the moment and I like the performance. It has some flaky stuff, like losing the mouse curser when going from one VM to another and opening a dialog box from it’s menu, but so far I can deal with that…
Will see how it works when I start the install of Apache, Drupal, MySql and PHP stuff…
You can install and patch VMware Server 2.0.2 using the patch method here: Install VMware server 2.0.2 in openSUSE 11.2 32 and 64 bit. The end result works fine, very nice.
Thanks swerdna for the reply! I’m running VBox 3.1.4 and so far everything is running smoothly!
