I’d like to know if someone here experienced this kind of thing with vmware server 2 before.
Always, after restarting the machine, i need to run ‘vmware-config.pl’ and do (recompile some stuff, and set some things) all over again to get it to run.
On Debian it doesn’t happen. Maybe there’s something hidden or a ‘detail’ that I didn’t do that is necessary on OpenSuse (i’m newbie on OpenSuse).
I don’t understand what the problem is 'cause after running the vmware-config.pl command (and doing all the steps) it works fine.
Might be any thing regarding the gcc compile version ? On the system it is set for 4.3.1 and the kernel was compiled (not for me, it came from the repository this way though) with the 4.3 version (it is shown right before make the first compilation during the installation process.
I’m using OpenSuSE 11, kernel 2.6.25.16-0.1-default
Does /etc/vmware/not_configured (or something like that) exist on your box?
Good luck.

Are you sure? Please open a console, become root and try “/etc/init.d/vmware restart” instead. That’s what I need to do on both machines here.
