I installed LEAP 15.4 as guest OS in WMWare player 17. The host OS is windows 11.
I selected the desktop(icewm) package. First boot after installation, everything seems OK. Then proceed to do “sudo zypper update”, quite a few packages are updated including kernel updated 6.08. After reboot, I found network connection is lost. No help if boot to previous 5.14.21-150400.24.33 kernel.
ip link shows “state DOWN”. Cannot copy paste as the VMWare somehow cannot get text out…
Checked with systemctl status wickedd*. All servces are running correctly. dmesg doesn’t show anything wrong too.
What else should I check?
BTW, if I reboot to installation and open a terminal, it can ping internet and ip link shows “state UP”.
the output shows Tumbleweed repo is included!
Reviewing commands with history at one point I added it using zypper addrepo command. That’s why so many packages are updated, right?
Hello, I see you are new here. Welcome to the openSUSE forums.
That said, you should be aware that people here prefer real computer output above story telling. So, when they ask you to post
zypper lr -d
they expect you to do that (as root of course) on a terminal emulator and then copy/paste the complete action (including the line with the prompt command, all the output and the line with the new prompt) between CODE tags in your post. They are not really interested in your conclusions like “the output shows Tumbleweed repo is included!”.
Same for other thing like saying "ip link shows “state DOWN”. We want to see it, not your story.
To repeat about the CODE tags
There is an important, but not easy to find feature on the forums.
Please in the future use CODE tags around copied/pasted computer text in a post. It is the # button in the tool bar of the post editor. When applicable copy/paste complete, that is including the prompt, the command, the output and the next prompt.
