VMware External USB Drive Problem

I’ve installed VMWare Workstation and when I try to open a VM (any of them) I get an error saying to connect to the drive. However when I copy the VM from the external drive to my local drive and then open the VM it works fine. So the problem is obviously with the External Drive… Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix?

Thanks!

Just speculating, but if your host system sees and mounts the ext usb drive (with rw access, obviously), it should be accessible by the host (vmserver, vmplayer, etc.). It could be a problem of the virtual machine capturing the USB ports on start, denying access to the drive from the vmware program that is running in the host.

You could try the VMware forums, you’ll get more specific help there.
