VM's can't mount drives

In my operating sys. I am mounted on one of my internal hard disks and two usb attached hard disk’s. However, in both VMware and Vbox they do not see nor connect to these drives. I do not have this problem in the 13.1 system. Any idea as to what is going on?

In vbox you have to install the extra USB module. Don’t know about VMWare

No problem with USB disks in both VBox 4.3 and VMware Workstation 11.

Recommend updating your Guest Tools/Additions, when you do so you’ll re-build and update your USB module.

For VMware,
I posted how to do this at the following

BTW - IMO should have been obvious this was a problem specific to a virtual machine so should have been posted in the Virtualization forum for best results.

Thanks for the input, you may be right about which forum I should have gone to! However, I solved my mount problem “for the internal HD” by editing its entry in “fstab” to “user,uid=1000,gid=100,unmask=0022, locale=en_US.UTF-8 0 0” and wa la it’s mounted. Also have my USB drives working in both vm’s
