VMPlayer 3.0 failst to start

Folks,
just switched from SuSE 11.0 to 11.2 and installed VMplayer 3. When I start it I get a message box:

*“Before you can run VMWare several modules must be compiled and loaded into the kernel.” *

I then click Install and enter the root password, but get the message:

“Unable to build Kernel module” The logfile shows following entry:

“Trying to find a suitable PBM set for kernel 2.6.31.5-0.1-desktop.”

installed is the following:
rpm -qa | grep kernel
kernel-desktop-2.6.31.5-0.1.1.x86_64
kernel-xen-devel-2.6.31.5-0.1.1.x86_64
kernel-syms-2.6.31.5-0.1.1.x86_64
kernel-desktop-devel-2.6.31.5-0.1.1.x86_64
linux-kernel-headers-2.6.31-3.4.noarch
kernel-debug-devel-2.6.31.5-0.1.1.x86_64
kernel-source-2.6.31.5-0.1.1.noarch
kernel-default-devel-2.6.31.5-0.1.1.x86_64

Has anybody got a clue what else is missing here?

bring to front …

still need your help, I’m really puzzled.:frowning:

Run vmware-modconfig from the command line to build the modules and observe the errors.

You have gcc and make installed, right?

Many Thanks Chrysantine…I had installed gcc but had forgotten about make… installed now and it’s running fine! :-))
