vlc was working, perfectly. Then this morning, zypper dup upgraded 2253 packages, including vlc. Now, I can open one file in vlc and it plays, but when I open a different file, it acts as if it was changing, but then continues playing the same file. The files are links to network streams.
Is anyone else having this problem since today’s dup? If so, does anyone know how to fix it?
Similar story but nothing plays now and cannot clear file once opened.
No idea how to fix or what to reverse. Problem with Tumbleweed and constant updates but this is the first major issue.
Will try another player. I believe Audacity is still working.
Good luck fixing this.

We have a similar problem with Leap 15.2, VLC 3.0.10. No fix, but a workaround. Clicking a file in Dolphin plays it correctly with VLC. Closing VLC with the top right X leaves a black and white VLC icon in the bottom right widget panel. If it is there, nothing else will play. Clicking the icon opens a blank VLC window. Do ctrl+alt+esc to get the kill symbol, and click the VLC window. It and the icon disappear, and clicking a file in Dolphin plays it properly in VLC. Overall, VLC behaves a bit differently on our assorted machines, all with Leap 15.2.
But, the openSUSE part of the VLC repository is currently broken – therefore I’m reluctant to check the current (reduced functionality) version 3.0.11.1 in the openSUSE repositories …
