now the same problem added VLC repo and did all that but videos stopped playing, the ones recorded from my mobile device…
One also needs to switch the other packages to the VLC repo, e.g. all the codec packages…
How did you switch ffmpeg?

So you didn’t install ffmpeg from the vlc repo yet. This will drag in the associated codec packages as well.
then it asks for deinstallation of som libc and other components then I dont know how, once I had to reinstall the whole slowroll because of packman it removed some of the KDE components also, so I didn’t try much…
if it were installing without any conflict I would have done that, tried swithcing vendor also the same problem persists
You should not have the Packman repo enabled concurrently with the VLC repo. Disable it first before trying to use the VLC repo.
Then do sudo zypper in --from vlc ffmpeg-8
where vlc is the name of the repo. If in doubt about that share zypper lr -d output.
Please share what you are presented with when you are tyring to install the ffmpeg package, so we’re not left to speculate, and post as preformatted text (refer to the </> button in the forum editor), or read

Mod edit: Please post as prefomatted text (explained above)
Okay, we have the cause now. Your repositories look correct, and using the Tumbleweed VLC repository is intentional since VLC doesn’t provide a Slowroll repository. The problem is that VLC has just moved to ffmpeg-8 8.1.2-5.1 , and that build requires GLIBC_2.44 . Your Slowroll system currently has glibc 2.43.
We need to wait for the required glibc version to reach Slowroll.
OK, Thank you for the effort, maybe this 10th ill get that.
Should be ok to switch now.
yes switched, videos playing now, this seems to be a better option… Thank you…
again this vlc repo getting in to trouble on my slowroll, I hope waiting a few days might solve this…
I am curious how much the number of users hitting their download servers has increased since the Packman announcement. I would not be amazed if that goes > 10K
can I dist upgrade my slowroll without videoLAN repo?
Yes. Simply disable it temporary.
It was back online for me this morning (NZ time). Just updated by Slowroll system.
