VLC not opening in 11.4 KDE

Cant get VLC to open in 11.4 KDE but opens fine and plays videos in 11.4 Gnome. Anyone get any ideas why it wont open in the KDE version

try starting it from the terminal with: vlc

post any output from the terminal

KGlobal::locale::Warning your global KLocale is being recreated with a valid main component instead of a fake component, this usually means you tried to call i18n related functions before your main component was created. You should not do that since it most likely will not work

There is a bug in kde
AFAIK it has not been fixed.
Things to try: If you use Oxygen theme in kde try changing it

To open a file in vlc, do it from file manager, right click open with vlc

does that help?

I have the exact same problem, and yes right clicking from Konqueror will launch vlc normally.

Since I only ever open files that way with vlc, probably why I never noticed it.
Thanks for the confirm @ionmich

Thank you very much!
I search a topic in 4rum VLC.it say “Followed the link and found, that the bug has been fixed already. Updated KDE from 4.6.0 to 4.6.1 and the problem has gone.”

I update VLC bate2 to fix it! then VLC is good, now

I have the same problem. Is there any way to avoid this problem without updating to a beta version of VLC?
