VLC mkv problems

Hi there, I’m having issues regarding mkv videos with VLC.
The problem appears when seeking to different positions in a video, the video gets corrupted for a few seconds until it gets stabilized. However if I start an mkv from the beggining the video plays fine.

I know this is an issue of an specific application with no direct relation with openSUSE, but I haven’t experienced this issues in other distros, like Ubuntu neither with SMPlayer.
Maybe it has to do with something from the audio backend I don’t know.

This are the logs form VLC when the issue is reproduced:

VLC media player 2.2.3 Weatherwax (revision 2.2.3)

BTW I’m running NVIDIA proprietary drivers.

Any idea?

I have a similar issue with vlc and that does not happen with smplayer or kaffeine (which uses libxine2)
you can try smplayer (get it from packman) or a different non accelerated video output (in vlc’s settings chose something that is not vdpau or vaapi)
did you do a full vendor change with packman you could have mixed packages?

Yes, I did a full vendor change on Packman repository.

Can you tell me where are the vdpau/vaapi settings?

it’s in Input and codec settings
I found this image with a google search

you can play around with the options until you find one you like,
I experience a vlc bug/nuisance when I use the quick seek, I loose sound for a few seconds I think it’s because of the hardware acceleration as the video is decoded by the gpu and the audio by the cpu which in vlc don’t seam to sync well.
