virtualbox

I am having troubles getting virtual box working in Suse. It will not start the os installation. It does reconize the cd. Also I have set the user as part of the virtual box group, and ran the bin script. What do I do next?

cheers

So VBox actually starts up fine, you just can’t get it to recognize an installation cd?

What are you trying to install? Have you tried any other discs for other OS’s?

Check you have the settings right for the VM, under the cd/dvd-rom tab, check mount cd/dvd, host cd/dvd

yes the CD is mounted in Virtual Box. The CD is a good CD. What happens is when I go to the “play” button it will not start the OS thus will not run the cd as if you were starting you computer.

I hope that this makes sense. I am on the road and can get a screen shot or the error message that comes up when I get home.

No error messages?
If you have more than one cd/dvd drive as I do, make sure the right one is selected

You could try creating an .iso from the cd and using that instead of the cd

That’s probably a good idea. I had a couple of problems trying to (boot)
install from cd/dvd while other disks were ok and all could be read. I
now only use iso images when I need to install, whether OS or
application. It’s probably just me, but the total installation time
seems less as well
