virtualbox problem

Have the following problem. Tried ‘/ sbin / vboxconfig’ but it does not exist?
Think of a kernel confict.

The VirtualBox Linux kernel driver (vboxdrv) is either not loaded or there is a permission problem with /dev/vboxdrv. Please reinstall the kernel module by executing

'/sbin/vboxconfig'

as root.

where: suplibOsInit what: 3 VERR_VM_DRIVER_NOT_INSTALLED (-1908) - The support driver is not installed. On linux, open returned ENOENT.

I have exactly the same problem!

I had the same problem after the Kernel update but I really needed virtualbox so I want to virtualbox.org and installed the Leap version from there. There is one error upon install but it runs fine and I am using it trouble free.

I think the Tumbleweed version from the repository had issues surrounding the kernel update to 4.10.9. Virtualbox tells me to fix the problem by executing: /sbin/vboxconfig but the command doesn’t exist to “fix” the problem.

The solution of installing from Virtualbox.org is working for me at this time. I don’t like the solution but it works for now.

I wish I had more knowledge on the subject to be more helpful to the community.

Except for the openSUSE version, your problem sounds exactly like what is discussed in the thread immediately preceding this one in this Virtualization Forum

Skim those posts, and in particular try the troubleshooting I posted in the last post.
Or, as @futureboy suggests, this might be an openSUSE packaging problem that just happened, and maybe installing the version from Oracle is the immediate fix. Or, maybe something will be found in the openSUSE version and a fix will be pushed (someone needs to submit a bug, though… If it’s not solvable by the methods I suggested).

modprobe vboxdrv

Does it then work?
And after reboot not?
