same problem here. Vbox OSE won’t launch after installation. More
importantly the non-OSE version, which worked fine under 11.0, won’t
install at all because of missing dependencies.
I need virtualbox with usb support. So I guess I scrap 11.1 and go
back to 11.0
Virtualbox requires you to be a member of the vboxusers group. Howver,
the OSE version crashes on startup. The non-oss version won’t install
because of a dependency issue (it wants python-2.5, which will not
install on openSUSE 11.1). However, I installed the non-oss version once
with the rpm -Uvh -nodeps command. It ran fine once, however, now it
refuses to build the kernel module. So no VirtualBox for me.

I don’t know about the OSE version, but the Sun version I downloaded
yesterday for the 11.0 i386 (32 bit) refused to install because of a
libpython dependency. Went back to the VB web site tonight and they had
added a new 11.1 version that wasn’t there earlier. Got that and all was
well.
FWIW, I’m right now installing an OS with Vbox OSE, it installed fine
and ran well after adding the user to vboxusers group and rebooting.
Also to be able to use the cd/dvd, the user must be a member of disk
group.

-There’s only one certain way to hit the nail, and it is to hit a
hundred on the horseshoe.-
I first tried the ose version (btw crashes yast2 when selecting that
package from gui so had to use zypper)
no matter if i run it from the apps menu or via terminal it’s starts to
process the job and just does nothing not even any output.
the same can be said from apps menu no gui nothing.
this behavior is also unchanged with the binary version 2.1.2 from the
VB website.
i uninstalled all i could find related to VB and reinstalled and did
this process with both version still no responce.
I am using 11.1 with a gnome display (i don’t like kde)
I really need to get this up and running so I can silence my
instructors gripes about me not having XP installed so i can follow
along in class (being as i refuse to use the slower then paint drying
school systems)
So any help on this would be appreciated I am on x86_32 bit hardware
Apparently there is some new yast updates to be had (which also fixed
the crash on package selection bug) after updateing i installed VB did a
reboot added myself to vbusers and bam i got a VM now gota love it
