Trying to install VBox 4.0.4-69518 from
oracle website on 11.4 RC1.
I understand must install extpack first.
Instructions say download it and double click
it to get install manage. Worked on 11.3 but
on 11.4 I get ark instead. Has anyone else
seen this problem?
If I use the SUSe repo version will I now get
usb support? Which rpms should be loaded?
You can download the extensions pack from the VBox website. The extensions are managed in the VBox preferences. Just click add, and browse to the downloaded package.
The extpack is included in the rpm, you’ll have to do with the 11.3 version for now, you’ll get a warning about broken dependency for python-2.6, 11.4 has python-2.7, but you can safely check the alternative “break the depency”, VirtualBox will work with python-2.7.
I got it from the openSUSE 11.4 repository; you need to install VirtualBox itself, the QT interface and the kernel modules-don’t have the package names handy… I had to manually modprobe vboxdrv, then add myself to the vboxusers group and log out/in. I then downloaded the extension pack from Sun and installed it vis the preferences as mentioned above.
