I’m trying to get OpenSUSE running on my Virtual PC (2004). Problem is, it won’t load up. It has an error that says: “An unrecoverable processor error has been encountered. The virtual machine will reset now.” The only thing I’ve been able to do, is reset the virtual machine.
First, VirtualPC 2004 sounds like it’s really, really old. I’d try a
newer version; however, before I tried a newer version I’d try either
VirtualBox (Sun) or VMware Server 2 (VMware) as both work very well with
SUSE as either the host or guest. Everybody I have heard from using
VirtualPC has said they have problems getting anything besides brand new
windows working in it… driver support not there, performance not
good, etc. To verify things work otherwise VMware is usually tried and
works on the first try. Anyway, give that a shot as each product
suggested is free and easy to install/uninstall.
