Virtual desktop switching with compiz-fusion

Hello everyone.

I’ve been trying to make desktop switching to work with compiz-fusion on openSUSE 11 (KDE4).

I’m using Desktop Cube and Rotate Cube, everything work great, and can rotate it and all, but switching like this does not switch desktops, to do so I have to manually click on the page switcher, which beats the purpose of the cube.

On the General Options I have
Horizontal Virtual Size 4
Vertical Virtual Size 2
Number of Desktops 4

Like I said, clicking the pager works, but using the cube (or any other plugin on compiz) doesn’t.

Any ideas?

Hi
If you mean when your mouse pointer is at the edge? If so you need to
set the edge flip pointer check box in rotate cube. Or alt+ctrl+ left
or right arrow.

You may also need to set the edges properties tab (left click on
the areas to change) in the simple compiz settings manager.

Thanks for the reply.

Nope, edges are working fine. Here’s what I’m attempting:

  1. Press the Rotate hotkey (or move the mouse towards the edge of the screen) to activate the rotating cube

  2. Select the desktop I want

  3. Make the selected desktop active, switching the taskbar too, so only task on the current desktop are shown.

Now, step 1 and 2 I got working, its step 3 that I have trouble with. For example, if I’m in Desktop1, and rotate to Desktop2, the taskbar remains the same, and the pager shows I’m still on Desktop1.

For each program you can rightclick the titlebar and choose ‘show only on this desktop’ or ‘show on all desktops’.

The pager I’d ignore even get rid of, if you are using the cube to rotate to the next desktop.
The fact that the taskbar still shows all your open progs is a great feature, click one and the cube will rotate to that desktop, the fastest changing ever.
