I’ve been experimenting with OpenSuse, SLED, OES etc in order to create some sort of small business setup, that not only allows for virtualised server guests, but **desktops guests **as well. What I’m trying to avoid is setting up individual VM’s for desktops and of course having to pay a huge license for software that also forces me to install a windows server.
Basically, I want to deploy Virtual Linux desktops in a managed way, without requiring a windows server (as required in VMware vSphere). I do have an ESXi setup, it’s happily running SLES/OES, Groupwise 2012, but I’d really like to deploy SLED/OpenSuse desktops too!
I have tried Ulteo, which is great, however it’s not strictly delivering VM machines, it delivers an ‘Ulteo’ desktop, I really want to deploy a full Suse/OpenSuse desktop.
I should also say that I would like these desktops to be accessed via thin clients or from a traditional PC, using PCoIP, RDP, or VNC (or similar) - Ulteo, for example, requires a recent version of Java enabled browser that most thin clients don’t have.

Have a look at FreeNX - it can provide the sort of thing you’re looking
for (which technically is a terminal server rather than a virtualization
solution).
