after installation openleap 16 beta it fails to boot from harddisk
second installation does not resolve.
previous verions do install and work perfectly
Hmmmm. you wrote “boot from harddisk”, but your Title includes “VirtualBox”.
Did you mean, “boot from virtual machine” (install) ??
Or are you suggesting that after you installed Leap16 Beta in a virtual machine, the Host machine will not boot?
i install openleap in virtualbox as a virtual machine.
so when i stated “boot from harddisk”, is the time when openleap 16 is sucesssfully installed (all items succesfully) and i had to reboot.
i got the same 4 options as before installation, boot from harddisk is nog succesfulle (no bootable harddisk), again choosing for installation repeats first installation.
Start VirtualBox application, and choose the Leap 16 Beta VM installed.
Then choose Settings, then System.
Look at Boot Order - it is probably still set to “Optical”.
Change it so “Hard Disk” is first - see screenshot
sorry, that is not the issue.
i am well known with virtualbox, harddisk is checked.
priority boot changed but nothing works
How did you install? The Net install went OK here, I read of some problems with the DVD?
Also I did a “legacy” install, did you enable UEFI instead?
i had a full iso download (4,7 GB) and booted in virtualbox from there.
install options custom and also tried default install options.
efi checked, reboot solved.
but after reboot and loading linux screens as a result only a black screen with cursor in top left positon. no graphical linux.
i tried text based linux and that works.
Try the video adapter VBoxSVGA with 64-128 MB video memory. VBox will complain “Invalid settings detected” but graphics should work.
installation done with the online setup and that works, vboxsvga setting was needed for graphical login.
also detected that libreoffice is installed despite of unchecked in the installation screen. Installation is to be developped before release.
tnx for input,
tomorrow i will check the samen in vmware workstation, esxi 8 and proxmox.
The AGAMA installer is currently under active development and the usual VBox kernel modules are not yet available for Leap 16 (although you may try to build those yourself…) but that is what a beta is all about
Anyway, reporting bugs might help fix things before the final release.
youre right.
is this forum a way to report this bug? other options?
It is not. This Forum is not now, nor has it ever been a bug tracker.
https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/ same username and password you use for the Forums.
tnx,
some more issues now
Myrlin nog installed, no repository for installing.
multiple issues, so better for me to report bugging,
tnx.
tried and tried, Myrlin not in applications, no way to install any applications like in yast. also start/stop deamons
anyone?
AS you have new problems that have no relation to the title of this topic it is much better to start a new one. A good topic title is crucial in drawing the attention of the people that might know more about the subject.
We don’t know how you installed and what you chose to install or not. Myrlyn is installed as part of a default install.
Anyway you should be able to open a terminal (from the desktop or via RightControl+Fn), check that at least repo-oss is defined via zypper lr -d
and then install Myrlyn via zypper in myrlyn
Ass user hcvv stated: this should be a new topic.
i tried your advice, unable to add myrlyn to the distribution (chose install, leap 16, gnome)
when i changed from gnome to kde myrlyn was ok, so i think the implementation in gnome is not arranged yet,
greetings,
ben
