vinagre "connection closed" error

I’m trying to use Vinagre on openSUSE 11.2 to make remote connection to another host. I keep getting a “connection closed” message. This happens both when I try to connect to my local XP box (which has Remote Desktop activated) or when I try to connect to a server on the network. (It looks like my firewall has VNC, VNC Server, and VNC mini-HTTP Server all as Allowed Services.)

The local XP box doesn’t have any trouble making a Remote Desktop Connection to the external server.

With my old 11.1 installation I had no trouble making remote desktop connections. Is there something that I have to tweak with the new installation?

It struck me that 11.1 did not have vinagre but terminal server client. So I installed that. Interesingly, even tho it is described as a front end for rdesktop, installing tsclient did not include rdesktop. Once I installed rdesktop too, it worked.

I’m having the same problems. vinagre connects to my server but immediately closes the connection. I followed SuseNeo’s suggestions and installed the terminal server client and rdesktop but I’m getting the same results - BUT PuTTY and qPuTTY connect and work properly!

I don’t care fotr PuTTY’s font size PuTTY defaults to and any attempt I make to override it is ignored.

Just an “Oh, bye the way”, I’m just in the process of building the server on an old Gateway machine I had sitting around collecting dust. It’s a P3 - 933 with only 256 MB of memory, but it should be good enough for my uses. I’m installing 11.2 i586 server on it and all else seems to be going wonderfully.
