it seems videolan.org has been down for some days now, which means it is not possible to use the VLC repository.
Is there any alternative? Using the packman repositories does not like to be a good idea to me since it will go down in January.
It was down for me last night, but was online again this morning. They’re obviously having some issues but I’m sure it will be back online after the weekend.
vlc repo, accordimg to zypper dup, is still off for me @ 0900 on Sept 20 in US Central time.
It’s not the first time they’ve had server/CDN troubles. Just be patient and they’ll sort it out.
They’re French, so give them time to enjoy their weekend and then a leisurely petit-déjeuner. ![]()
When it’s back alive, look at a mirror…

One possible hope is to send an email … because of the 502 error, no resources from their base website will show up.

That’s all the sources, you want a repo one, AFAIK there are a few around.
Do you think so? — I have found several (more than 1) server for sources, immediately — but none for OS repo use, so far.

In general, people using the VLC repository in OpenSUSE are using it for system codecs more than they are for VLC itself.
Flatpak VLC is great, but it doesn’t provide system-wide support for HEIC, HEVC/H.265 and other patent-encumbered codecs.
