Video Lan Repositories

Hi All

Just a Question:

Does anyone knows what’s happening with videolan repositories? Are they still available? if they’re not, why are they still appearing at opensuse repositories main page and where is the software? I need orientation

suggest you use the ones in Packman, KDE Extra probably doesn’t include restricted codecs

                 Hi All

Yes, the VideoLAN repositories are still available, see below:

VLC VideoLan client

VLC Repositories for openSUSE contains all the required libraries that are not shipped with original openSUSE. (Do Not Mix with Packman)

**Version: 12.1 Index of /pub/vlc/SuSE/12.1/
**
**Version: Factory **Index of /pub/vlc/SuSE/Factory/

**Version: 11.4 **Index of /pub/vlc/SuSE/11.4/

Version: 11.3ndex of /pub/vlc/SuSE/11.3/

**Version: 11.2 **Index of /pub/vlc/SuSE/11.2/

Version: 11.1Index of /pub/vlc/SuSE/11.1/

Be aware that mixing Packman & VideoLAN repositories can cause problems. We recommend that you only download the libdvdcss file from VideoLAN IF you are using Packman.

[size=3]Now, that being said, considerable trouble is put forth by others to maintain the VideoLAN repositories and indeed some files may exist there that do not exist with Packman. So, VideoLAN is an option and shall remain an option as long as openSUSE compatible repositories are maintained there. You just should not mix Packman and VideoLAN repositores, it is as simple as that. Adding in these two repositories together can cause problems with the mixing of certain version of applications. Combine these two repositories together at your own risk. If you have a good reason to keep using VideoLAN, you should not use Packman and Packman is the recommended repositories for multimedia files to work properly in openSUSE.
