Hello everyone
So, basically what the title says. Any video converter who can you recommend to handle my WMV videos and transform them into MOV or AVI?
Thanks in advance

What codecs are you interested in ?
A MOV file is the default extension given a QuickTime movie file. The video and audio contained in the .mov can use one of many codecs. An AVI (Audio Video Interleave) is a popular container format used to hold video and audio data, of many different codecs.
Not sure which codec will work. I was expecting something compliant with MotionJPEG or OpenDML. What I’m trying to do is convert one of my movies from Windows Movie Maker (before I migrated) to something I can play directly in my Wii and it only handles AVI or MOV. I assume the MOV ones are actually QuickTime. For the AVI one I still don’t have the specs but I’m trying to find out
I hope this clarifies something and, if not, I’ll try to research a little bit more
I don’t know anything about the Wii nor the player(s) (?) that it uses. I would want to see the specs before making any definitive recommendation. Likely avidemux will do what you want, but tuning its output could be an annoying iterative process, and its far better to determine exactly what codecs (video and audio) you need and only then recommend a suitable application for any conversion.
Also note there is more than one type of WMV. Which wmv are you referring to ?
There are many ways to convert WMV to MOV on Mac (Mavericks included). Here, I will introduce three method which are mentioned by many peopel.
1, In order to play WMV videos in iDevice and edit WMV files in iMovie, QuickTime and Final Cut Pro, you’d better to convert WMV to MOV (QuickTime). This way is generally accepted.
Cons:
HandBrake is too professional to handle for most people;
It doesn’t support MOV as output format.
Cons:
Format Factory only has Windows version and is not compatible with Mac OS X;
It doesn’t support 1080p videos and some YouTube downloaded videos.

Huh? That sofware is for Windows or Macs. What use is that to us?

Windows? Again, are you aware that this is a Linux forum?
Sorry, I’m starting to think that you are some kind of spammer that
doesn’t even consider the audience he is talking to…
:-??
If I’m wrong, please elaborate and I’ll present my excuses if appropriate.
