Video Adapter error on HP 8460p laptop

I am new to the openSUSE environment, so bear with me on this. I am trying to setup my brand new laptop with version 11.4 of openSUSE on a dual boot configuration. It installs fine, but throws error about video adapter not being fully supported. It finishes the installation in manual yast mode. At the startup options, it shows Boot options for that desktop --openSUSE 11.4 set to vga=0x317. It boots to command prompt to login. Once I login, I try and start qui by startx command. I get errrors, here is pertinent ones I saw:

Fatal server error:
no screens found

(EE) RADEON(0): Chipset: “CAICOS” (ChipID = 0x6760) requires KMS
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usuable configuration

I loaded the 12.1 BETA of openSUSE and that works fine, but I didn’t want to use it since it is BETA, and I was more use to the 11.4 version. Any help would be appreciated.

Following steps in following forum article:

SDB:Configuring graphics cards - openSUSE

It will load interface in failsafe, but the first and third option does not work. Didn’t try 4 or 5 since it read dependent on step 3 working.

My video card is a AMD Radeon 6470M.
