wow not happening give us another clue it woks with windows maybe a driver prob?
If that that does not help you get your basic sound working, please providing in your post the following information:
- provide the URLs (of a summary webpage) that are created by running the diagnostic script noted here:
SDB:AudioTroubleshooting - openSUSE - Script to run to obtain detailed information. On openSUSE-11.1 and newer that will ask you to run the script /usr/sbin/alsa-info.sh and after the script finishes it will give you a URL to pass to the support personnel. Please post here the output URL. Just the URL. You may need to run that script twice (the first time with root permissions to update in the /usr/sbin directory, and the second time to get the URL). - in a terminal, or xterm, or konsole, type: rpm -qa ‘alsa’ #and post output here
- in a terminal, or xterm, or konsole, type: rpm -qa ‘pulse’ #and post output here
- in a terminal, or xterm, or konsole, type: rpm -q libasound2 #and post output here
- in a terminal, or xterm, or konsole, type: uname -a #and post output here
- for openSUSE-11.1 or earlier, in a terminal, or xterm, or konsole, type: cat /etc/modprobe.d/sound #and post output here
- for openSUSE-11.2 or later, in a terminal, or xterm, or konsole, type: cat /etc/modprobe.d/50-sound.conf #and post output here
Have you actually run thru Yast and configured this. Just open up Yast Hardware Sound
Select the device listed there - edit and check the volume settings from the ‘other’ button, and just ‘next’ thru each stage to a finish.
Then double check all the kmix settings from the volume control in the panel and that the master channel is enabled etc…
yes m8 did this :(before i posted
Please note caf4926 asked for more information than just this URL. There is a reason for that information, which would take a lot of time to explain. Can you not provide that information? If not, why not? Can we help you with that.
What are you using for a sound test? I know its obvious to me, but its not to me. … I recommend you try each of the sound tests in the audio troubleshoot guide (ie two speaker-tests and one aplay test) and if any one of those work, then your problem is likely a codec issue and not a basic sound problem. Please look here for how to test your sound: SDB:AudioTroubleshooting - openSUSE - how to test your sound
Now I note this from what you did provide:
!!-------Mixer controls for card 0 [V8237]
Card hw:0 ‘V8237’/'VIA 8237 with ALC250 at 0x1000, irq 22’
Mixer name : ‘Realtek ALC250 rev 2’
Simple mixer control ‘Master Mono’,0
Mono: Playback 0 [0%] -46.50dB] [off]
Simple mixer control ‘External Amplifier’,0
Mono: Playback** [on]**
Did you try unmuting the Master Mono which you have muted and at 0%?
Did you try toggling the External Amplifier OFF/ON to see if that made any difference in different positions?
Note I will have no internet access starting later today for a week, so I will not look at this thread again for at least 10 days.
