Hello all,
Right now I’m having a rather weird problem. Ktorrent3 will not start. I am currently using KDE 4.2 and openSuSE 11.1. I did not install anything or update in between a working session and one in which Ktorrent would not start. When I try to run it from krunner two things happen, either ktorrent appears in the panel (but not the systray) and I get a pop-up dialog about a download directory not existing if my external HD isn’t mounted (oddly it doesn’t auto-mount anymore and I have to do it by hand from the command line…) or if I mount the HD first, nothing happens. I see the bouncing icon next to the mouse pointer, hear my hard drive working, then nothing, and it doesn’t stay in the processes. Similarly if I try to start Ktorrent from the command line, it tries to do something (there is a pause and I hear my HD working) but then returns to the prompt without any output. I haven’t seen anything like this described anywhere else. I currently have ktorrent 3.x from Factory and have tried reinstalling and downgrading to either the Packman or repo-oss packages with no luck. Anyone else seen anything like this?
I have exactly this problem with a clean install of OS 11.2 and the vers of Ktorrent that shippe with that.
The trigger for this behaviour is . . .
I have my torrent directories set to an external hard USB hard drive.
If I close Opensuse without first closing Ktorrent - when I restart Opensuse, Ktorrent starts along with it - but cannot find the torrent directories because KDE 4 does not automount external drives (have been complaining about this one since KDE 4 first released)
Ktorrent pops up a screen asking if I want to recreate the torrent - I hit exit.
Ktorrent is closed.
I mount my external drive.
Cannot get Ktorrent to launch - just get the bouncing cursor.
If I go into system monitor I can see there is an instance of Ktorrent running - interestingly it shows CPU usage as “disk sleep” - whether this is important or not I do not know.
To get Ktorrent running again I need to delete the directory
.kde4/share/apps/ktorrent
Anybody see this problem - have a solution?
I see the original poster didn’t have much luck with any replies.
Oh - have just discovered something.
If I don’t kill off the instance on Ktorrent in system monitor - it does actually start after about five minutes.
This can’t be right?
