Very Frustrating Dual Monitor Setup Problem

I hope I can explain this right. I have 2 monitors setup, one 1680x1050 and the other 1280x1024. I’m running KDE 4.3 but this happens in Gnome as well.

I had been using a simple script on login to set xrandr with the smaller monitor CRT2 to the right of DFP1. Now the xrandr module is working in KDE so I’ve been using that.

Basically since I installed the fglrx 9.8 driver (i think that’s when it started) when I turn off the monitors manually (when I step away from the PC) or they go in to sleep mode themselves once they come back on the monitors are set back to clone mode.

Everything beyond 1280x1024 is cropped (you can see it on the bigger monitor but you can’t get the mouse over there). Basically I have to log out and back in to get it to work again.

Is anyone else having this problem? It’s seriously driving me nuts.

I can understand your frustration, but
I’m not sure of a user-based solution. FWIW, I found this recent Ubuntu thread discussing same problem. You might be better off submitting a bug report.
