I am trying to install 11.0, which has worked well on other systems for me, but after install my older 1280x1024 lcd monitor was blank. Clearly some edits to xorg are in order, but the real problem is NO MATER WHAT I DO, OPENSUSE WON’T LET ME HAVE THE COMMAND PROMPT!!! Rescue mode just starts a configuration tool. What is this, windows? How do i boot to the command line?

At the grub boot menu, clear the boot options line and then hit 3 and
enter. You’ll be booted straight to CLI.
Thanks for the help- I restarted several times, and now it is booting to 800x600. Don’t know why it wasn’t before.
Ummm . . . are you quite sure it wasn’t Repair Mode that you selected? Rescue Mode drops you to a user login command prompt in an abbreviated shell.
