“nouveau” got installed and I want to try the nVidia driver

Add the NVIDIA repo in Yast -Software Repositories
Then Yast-Software Management search for NVIDIA install the drivers
Note there are several flavors of NVIDIA packages with numbers in them like GO1,GO2,GO3 Which to use depends on which exact card/chip set you have. Which you did not tell us. :’(
Also there is one package that must match your kernel. This is normally the Desktop kernel if you have not changed it and did a standard install.
You can be sure by running
uname -r
