Upgraded to 11.2, and set up Thunderbird but I don’t seem to be able to
go from one message to the next by pressing the spacebar anymore. How
does one re-enable that?

maybe a hardware glitch…
or a USER glitch: have you turned it (the keyboard, not the USER)
upside down and shaken the Oreo and Frito bits out lately???
