using closed nvidia driver

Can i use, but not on the hard way :shame:
Tumbleweed repo + closed nvidia driver?

if yes where can i find the rpm’s of closed nvidia driver.

This is what it says about that in the Tumbleweed wiki at Portal:Tumbleweed - openSUSE, and pickup links there to NVIDIA section:

Due to the Linux kernel being updated very frequently, users who rely on proprietary graphic drivers should not use the Tumbleweed repository unless they are familiar with updating these drivers from source on their own. See articles NVIDIA and ATI, section “The hard way”, for how to do this if you are interested.

but if you find from time to time a rpm closed nvidia driver in software.opensuse.org: Download openSUSE 12.3
what wil “zypper dup” do if the closed driver + newer kernel is in the list? i believe just leave the kernel form updating.

You will not find Nvidia closed source drivers from that link.

Because:
The NVIDIA drivers can not be included with openSUSE because of their license. Fortunately for new users,
NVIDIA has an openSUSE repository containing their drivers.

Hi,

I am using Tumbleweed with the closed source Nvidia drivers. For me the most handy solution was to use the original nvidia-installer from the nvidia website.
The only issue you will face always is that you have to run again the nvidia-installer each time the kernel was updated.

What you will need on your system to use the original nvidia-installer is the kernel-source, gcc etc. that’s all. Everything else the installer will explain to you directly.
