Ushare and xbox 360

Anybody using ushare here?

I’m having trouble with my xbox not finding ushare. Ushare starts and
everything looks fine, but the xbox won’t find it. So I have to start
Ubuntu if I want to stream video

Code:

/etc/init.d/ushare start

Starting uShare UPnP A/V & DLNA Media Server: usharestart_daemon: Empty pid file /var/run/ushare.pid for /usr/bin/ushare
Interface eth0 is down.
Recheck uShare’s configuration and try again !
uShare (version 1.1a), a lightweight UPnP A/V and DLNA Media Server.

This looks correct. But still it doesn’t work.

Hi
See above, have you selected the correct interface, firewall port open,
tried with the firewall off?

I’ve tried running ifup eth0, but I get an error saying:

Code:

Network interface is managed from NetworkManager
NetworkManager will be advised to set up eth0
but it cannot be assured from here.

Haven’t thought of firewall at all. How does it work in OpenSUSE? How
do I make an exception for ushare?

Hi
You may need to set the interface to use the traditional method and set
a static ip, gateway address, dns etc.

It’s all done via YaST, see the network devices to configure eth0 and
security and users for the firewall (select the allowed services and
advanced button to add the port).

Setting static IP is never a solution, at least I’ve never solved
anything with it.

Anywho, adding a rule to the firewall worked. Thanks.
