Few days ago I made my first attempt to use linux by installing Ubuntu 9,10. When I tried to install the printer it did not accept the username it had suggested. That is my name. Then I installed Mint8 and that distro accepted my access to the system but not the driver provided by Canon (Pixma MP600). Then I installed Opensuse 11.2. And the same thing happens as in Ubuntu. My username or password for that matter is not accepted.There must be something that Iḿ misunderstanding in the installation process because in all three cases I use the suggested name by the system i.e it takes my name in lower cases and I add the password repeated two times.
Any suggestions?
Have you tried using the YaST/Hardware/Printer module?
