*User* & password prompt for WPA enterprise?

1Howdy,

I’m configuring a laptop with openSUSE 13.2 to use a WPA enterprise network (authentication with a CA certificate + regular user/password login) to connect to the internet. The laptop is used by several users, so a pre-configured username and/or password is not an option. Ideally, I would like to have a simple username/password prompt when the network is chosen in the NetworkManager, without any additional configuration (just like in Windows).

So I’ve tried to set up the connection, but it just won’t save it unless a username is provided. And if I do provide some bogus username, then I’m only prompted for a password. I’ve then tried to delete the username from the connection config file in /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections, but then NetworkManager simply ignores it.

Is there a way to get a user/password prompt like in Windows? Or maybe some alternative to NetworkManager that would provide something like that?
