USB wireless adapter supporting either master or ad-hoc mode

I am looking for USB wireless adapters with drivers supporting either master or ad-hoc mode. Either native linux drivers or ndiswrapper versions are acceptable, but using PCI and PC cards is not an option. Does anyone have successful experience with this?

I currently have access to a Linksys WUSB54G and a Airlink101 zd1211, but have not had success using ndiswrapper, or the rt2x00 drivers and firmware package with the zd1211. I am currently running suse 10.3 with the 2.6.22 kernel. I have no problem upgrading to 11.0 or a newer kernel if necessary.

have you looked at the suse hardware compatibility list? just where i would look first?

Ross.

Maybe you forgot to blacklist?!?
Ndiswrapper - openSUSE

HCL/Network Adapters (Wireless - openSUSE

Ok, for anyone following this discussion, the hardware compatibility list link is actually at:

HCL/Network Adapters (Wireless) - openSUSE

And no, it doesn’t say anything about adapters supporting either master or ad-hoc mode.
