USB stick not recognized

I recently installed OpenSuse 10.3 64 bit on an HP Pavilion laptop. It does not recogize a USB stick when i plug it in. I don’t see it in My Computer (KDE). I’ve tried searching for opensuse usb stick but hits i get are about installing/running the OS from a usb stick.
How can I get it to work?

proc on /proc type proc (rw)
sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw)
debugfs on /sys/kernel/debug type debugfs (rw)
udev on /dev type tmpfs (rw)
devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,mode=0620,gid=5)
/dev/sda3 on /home type ext3 (rw,acl,user_xattr) ]
securityfs on /sys/kernel/security type securityfs (rw)

Did you try “tail /var/log/messages”, as root, to see if the OS saw the stick when it was plugged in?

First check if it’s recognised on the USB interface.
Use /usr/sbin/lsusb, before and after plugging the stick in.

I’ve moved to 11.0, but same problem.b43-fwcutter -w
The device is not recognized, lsusb is the same before and after plug in.

Well, it looks like you might have a hardare problem.

Have you tried changing ports? Maybe even change from using on on the front,
to one on the back (usually different HUB’s) ?
