i got a usb 2.0 compliant root hub and im trying to get my magicjack to work through it. if at all possible i really want to try to get something to work through the root hub( if not the magicjack). microsoft intellimouse optical through a root hub is second possibility.

Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub

dmesg(part that i thought was relevant)

the magicjack is connected thru the root hub
i tried modprobe usb-storage and i read up on how to mount it as a drive but i cant find articles relating to magicjack and root hubs.

I had never heard of magjicjack so did a quick search, if you mean the
Internet telephony device then it looks like the support is not yet here,
but according to one website it is under development.

As for the mouse, it should just work when plugged in, if not use Yast to
see if it is picked up there and configure.

I use a usb mouse and keyboard on my lappy when I am at home and they just
plug in and work, try and plug it directly into an onboard USB port and see
if that makes any difference, I have had one mouse that would not work from
a hub only when plugged into a port directly but that was a long time ago.

Addendum:

I did a bit more research and it appears that the magicjack does not like
being plugged into a hub even when being used in Windows, there is a warning
in the docs that it is not recommended.

I did see a couple of people had got it working in a windows vm within a
linux host, if you have the hardware then you could have a try with
virtualbox?
