USB Ports Not Working

I installed LXDE on my old laptop, but the USB ports don’t seem to work.

lsusb lists nothing
lsmod lists usbcore 191575 3 ohci_hcd,ehci_hcd

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
jp

Check for messages in the output of the dmesg command.

Further to lwfinger’s advice, I wonder whether you really mean you’re not getting ‘auto’ mounting of usb storage devices as desired. (The dmesg output will tell you what’s going on).

I doubt if the report lsusb gives (or gives not in your case) has anything to do with the desktop software you have or have not. lsusb is a down th earth CLI tool and should even work in a text only system.
