Usb-modemswitch and ZTE MF267 (solved by me)

Hello,
I recently bought a ZTE MF627 HSDPA stick and managed to work fine in openSUSE 11.2 by installing usb-mdemswitch found here Draisberghof - Software - USB_ModeSwitch

It was a simple “make-make install” on the main package and a “make install” on the data package.
After plugging it in, the modem started to work fine as expected.

I would like to suggest to add usb-modemswitch into OSS repository, possibly after testing other devices.

Usb-modemswitch is a program that tells USB modem sticks to switch into modem mode because if they are not recognized as modems they are recognized as a USB memory that carries Windows drivers (once Windows gets the driver installed, it’s expected to do the same as usb-modemswitch).
With usb-modemswitch, every USB “supported” modem stick user is able to configure network access just after plugging the modem in, without having to play around to find a hack.

I would also like to update HCL with this modem but don’t know if it’s a “USB modem” or “Wireless adapter”.

Thank you for your attention

Go Software.openSUSE.org and search for ‘modeswitch’ :), it’s already there.

Your wireless broadband modem device can go here

HCL/Modems - openSUSE

Lol it’s called modeswitch and not modeMswitch

haha thank you

Its already packaged (usb_modeswitch) as a search via webpin will show:
