usb dongle in modem mode but wont connect to internet

I have finally got this huawei usb dongle to go to modem mode but when I try to connect via network manager it starts to connect the stops and keeps starting and stopping any ideas

Some diagnostic information might be helpful to others trying to assist.

  1. Huawei device info
lsusb
  1. Anything useful reported in /var/log/NetworkManager?

  2. Some good debugging advice here:
    NetworkManagement - KDE UserBase Wiki

For mobile broadband:

  • hardware
  • driver in use (see dmesg when you connect the hardware)
  • network in use
  • network type (GSM/CDMA/UMTS)
  • apn used, if any.
  • ModemManager
logs (“killall NetworkManager”, “killall modem-manager”, start “modem-manager --debug”, “NetworkManager --no-debug”) may be helpful in debugging whether NetworkManager detects your hardware.

https://wiki.gnome.org/NetworkManager/Debugging

Debugging NetworkManager 0.8 and 0.9 3G connections NetworkManager 0.8 and later use ModemManager for 3G device control. To get logs from modem-manager, we use the “–debug” option.

  • killall -TERM modem-manager
  • modem-manager --debug
  • start NetworkManager again

NM_PPP_DEBUG=1 /usr/sbin/NetworkManager --no-daemon

  • reproduce the problem
  • send the modem-manager and NetworkManager logs to the developers

Are you really using tumbleweed?

I ask because if not, you should be asking in the networking forum. In
that case, just ask a moderator to move it.

deanno I have just noticed that tumbleweed is not asking for keyring password when starting network manager to connect to the internet ,butit does ask when i connect via router, opensuse 12.3 asks for keyring password when connecting via dongle and via router.I cant copy and paste from /var.log/networkmanager as it freezes the computer when trying will work on it
