USB Configuration

I have tried to connect a few devices to my USB ports, and my mp3 that is windows only will power & charge. However, when I connect my Palm phone, I get no charge not sync. How do I determine if my USB is set up properly and is working?? Thanks in advance.

Hi
When you plug the palm in, run the dmesg command from a console (you
may also see something here if you plug in your mp3 device), this should
show you which /dev/ttyUSB port it’s connected too. Then you need to
configure your application to use that.

Hi
The Palm device is using either /dev/ttyUSB0 or /dev/ttyUSB1

So what application are you using for syncing?

My Palm died a while back, stuck with a blackberry now, almost have the
tethering going. On a Palm it was a breeze.

Hi
Well I tried it out and had to set the device to /dev/ttyUSB1 for it to
communicate. Settings->Configure kPilot->Device. Then press your
hotsync button.

This is the full dmeag, I tried USB3 to no avail. Any suggestions???

As a side note, I went to the root file system, there is no /dev/ttyUSB anything…

There is /dev/usbdev1.1, /dev/usbdev1.2, etc…does this help??

Are you getting any activity when you plug your usb device in? Open a root console and type udevadm monitor, plug in your device and note any output. That may be of help with the diagnosis.

Hi
They won’t appear until the hotsync button is pressed. Can you make
sure kpilot is running and configured for /dev/ttyUSB1 second select
the HotSync window on kpilot. Now open a console window and enter;

ls -la /dev/ttyUSB* <press enter>
Should be nothing?

Press the hotsync key on the phone/cradle however you have it setup,
then re run the above command, there should be some devices created?
