USB Audio " could not open sounds source"

Hello all-

I have an external USB sound card and it doesnt seem to want to cooperate. Any time i set the sound to it and test it, it comes back:

“audiotestsrc wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink: Could not open audio device for playback.”

It used to work in Ubuntu, but not so much here. Im sure its a stupid thing, but im not clear what. Any one’s help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Typically you will need alsa-firmware for many USB devices. Try working your way thru this guide:
