URLs lead to wrong pages

this is kinda a continuation of several notes on this issue, with a
request:

it happens every time i’m reading (whether in nntp or not signed in,
or the sign in expired on the web side) and i click a URL to a
posting in the forum…every time i get sent to the opening page of
the fora…

where i then click on “Login”, do so, and then get sent BACK to the
opening page of the fora…and, then have to go back and find the
link and click again to finally get to the referenced posting…

why not (if possible) either:

  1. send me straight to the Login page and ‘remember’ where i’m
headed so when signed in i land there…

or

  1. if i must bounce through the opening page to get to Login,
‘remember’ where i’m going so i don’t have to go back and click the
    originating reference again…

please. (computers are supposed to reduce repetition, right?)

DenverD (Linux Counter 282315) via NNTP, Thunderbird 2.0.0.14, KDE

Looking into it. See the other threads you refer to for details. The openSUSE Login and the forums are only connected, not the same system.

Did you ever find out why this happens?

I think this makes it harder for the casual search engine user to find out information about openSUSE.

Will

Will, i thought it was fixed? maybe not…

seems to be working fine here now…that is i’m not logged in on the
web side and i can zing right to the right page without any log in
required…

and, i can search via either the web sites search page OR Google
(without signing in anywhere) and go direct to linked page on the
forum or in the archives…

all, as it should be (imho)…

why that is not happening for you i have no idea…
