UrbanTerror

i installed UrbanTerror but when i goto run it from the command line i get this:

pak0.pk3 is missing. Please copy it
from your legitimate Q3 CDROM.

Point Release files are missing. Please //////
re-install the 1.32 point release. //////////// what is 1.32 point release????

Also check that your Q3 executable is in
the correct place and that every file
in the baseq3 directory is present and readable.
You need to install Quake III Arena in order to play

as far as this goes:

pak0.pk3 is missing. Please copy it
from your legitimate Q3 CDROM.

on other distros, i’ve never needed a “legitimate Q3 CDROM”
to play UrbanTerror. :stuck_out_tongue:

i have a UrbanTerror installed:

Try running quake3-update first - the packages you installed don’t
include the data files, which are downloaded separately. Looks like
about 30 MB total to be downloaded before you can start the game.

Installing urbanterror should’ve also installed quake3.

Looks like it’s a bit more involved than that. It seems there’s a
directory and a file missing that are needed before it’ll download the
content (which is an additional 710 MB it looks like; the 30 MB download
takes care of most of the stuff needed for quake3.)

I’ve done the following so far:

cd ~/.q3a/
mkdir q3ut4
cd q3ut4
touch zpak000.pk3
urbanterror

That started the autodownload for the content. Going to let that run
overnight and I’ll see if that takes care of it in the morning.

Nope, I still get the pak0.pk3 error; it seems that the dependencies on
packman pull in Quake3, but hat needs this file from the commercial CD.

Installing ioquake3 should solve that (that is said to be supported and
as I understand it doesn’t require the official Quake3 file - it may be
that on other distros they’ve got it set up that way).

Nope, that didn’t work here either. It seems that the original pak0.pk3
file from Q3 is still required.

If you want to play Urban Terror, download it from the official Urban Terror website.

Yep ^ I agree with the guy who probably drives a Ford Fiesta.

11.3 64 bit KDE here,

I went to Yast software management and searched for “fps”, ticked “urban terror” and clicked “apply”.

Nothing is happening. Software from the repos supposed to work.

Then I “installed” Black Shades Elite in the same way. Nothing.

I really need to shoot someone now, please.

Urban terror in terminal gives me this

urbanterror
rm: cannot remove `/home/stan/.q3a/q3ut4/zpak000.pk3’: No such file or directory

I was expecting it to download some quake engine, I suppose q3a.

At this point I don’t know who to shoot.

People who make Urban Terror possible are probably not at fault but people who put non-working software in repositories will be the first ones against the wall when revolution comes.

So, please, how can I shoot somebody in OpenSuse 11.3 with minimum hassle?

I’ve got windows dualboot but shooting games I got there are all on some tropical islands, Far Cry and Crysis.

I want to shoot people living in the cities. I’m going to be good at it. You will read about me in the newspapers.

Seriously, I just want to play some shooting games under Linux, I don’t care that much about graphics, I just want a good gameplay. Far Cry and Crysis are not that entertaining at all. Call of Duty was too easy for my girlfriend, and I really don’t feel involved with killing aliens or mutants.

Maybe I’m too fussy, I just want to have fun.

Download Urban Terror from,

Urban Terror

Extract it, chmod +x either the 32 or 64 bit executable, then play.
