Upstart?

After testing Fedora 11 I must say the quick bootup impressed me (amongst others). Fedora uses Ubuntu’s Upstart to accomplish this quick boot time.

Does anybody know if there are plans for openSUSE to use this new type event driven boot? Searching for upstart and openSUSE didn’t turn up to many interesting hits…

Curious,
Willem

Just to add, did find an openFATE entry for this : https://features.opensuse.org/305690

Not too much action there though…

After testing out Milestone 6 (or whatever the latest one as of this post is, I can’t remember), I must say it boots much, MUCH quicker than 11.1 – or at least it felt like it.

I’m not sure about them using Upstart, though. Perhaps someone else can answer that.

No. Stephan Kulow is reluctant to use upstart instead of system-V as he doesn’t see any benefit in performance or in features.
Perhaps you have or you know someone with the technical skills, willing to do benchmarks and see if there’s a benefit in performance. That would be great.
