Upgrading freezes immediately with "Welcome to GRUB!"

Running system Opensuse 15.0 ( I need to upgrade)

  1. I’ve downloaded the iso file for Opensuse 15.1
  2. Then writing it to an USB stick with Imagewriter 1.10 (no error messages)
  3. Booting the USB stick freezes with the message “Welcome to GRUB!”

What can I do?

You ca do:

Thank you for your quick response.

It is openSUSE-Leap-15.1-DVD-x86_64.iso
sha256sum -c openSUSE-Leap-15.1-DVD-x86_64.iso.sha256
—> openSUSE-Leap-15.1-DVD-x86_64.iso: OK
stat -c ‘%s’ openSUSE-Leap-15.1-DVD-x86_64.iso
—> 4056940544
cmp -n 4056940544 openSUSE-Leap-15.1-DVD-x86_64.iso /dev/sde1
—> no output (identical files)

The stick works fine on a second computer.

Problem could be related to UEFI. Resetting mainboard to defaults might help.

SUSE Studio Image Writer or ImageWriter?

If stick work on another machine tell us about the one it does not work on.

ok, consulting my bios, searching for UEFI, but changing “nothing” (!!??), the upgrade is now finished.

Thanks a lot for your time.rotfl!
