Just loaded 10 and want to upgrade to newest build. I need to learn how to do stuff on this mahine so I can replace my old NT4.0 servers. This one is intended to replace a nt4.5 backoffice server.
It will be a front end between my network and the outside world.
Can yast be used to upgrade or do I need another program. I tried debian and that used apt-get which had a option to upgrade packages.
10 meaning what in this case?
openSUSE 10.0? SLES 10?
If you have SLE 10 go to NOVELL FORUMS . And if you have openSUSE 10.x - Yes, you can update but it’s not recommended. Better do a clean install
suse 10 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Create a backup.
-
Download and burn the new DVD.
-
Turn off exotic repos and just leave the main system ones active.
-
Boot to said DVD and choose installation at boot menu.
-
On the system analysis page choose update instead of new install.
-
If system gets jacked, restore from backup. Also try on a dev box
before moving to a production box if this is a business setting.
Hmmm my SuSE 10 DVD’s must be a figment of my imagination then?
