Running synchronized to the vertical refresh. The framerate should be
approximately the same as the monitor refresh rate.

300 frames in 5.0 seconds = 59.956 FPS

observation
no /etc/X11/xorg.conf file,
in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ the only files present are
05-glamor.conf 10-evdev.conf 11-mouse.conf 50-synaptics.conf
50-vmmouse.conf 50-wacom.conf 90-keytable.conf

is there a fglrx driver for 12.3?
if so where is it?

the only thing noticed as missing so far is sysinfo:// facility for Konqueror

suggestion
if an update is to be done, remove the fglrx driver before proceeding

its a very good update, thanks to all

just finished another install

before starting, fglrx was deleted with yast, also found entry in /usr/share/ati/
so ran the uninstall script there with --force parameter

ran -yast --/etc/systemconfig Editor and set
NO_KMS_IN_INITRD to no, it had been yes

ran -yast --Boot Loader —Boot Loader Options and removed the nomodeset in cmd line

rebooted to ensure clean start with Radeon driver, all ok

booted to DVD and started upgrade, all ran as expected

on the first re-boot the initialisation stopped with a flashing “_”
at position 0 0, the rest of the screen was black

in terminal mode started -yast --Boot Loader —Boot Loader Options
and found the install script had put nomodeset in the cmd line,
deleted nomodeset
then made a re-boot into login screen and kde desktop, successfully

can it be assumed most installs need nomodeset?
