There is a fairly easy way to upgrade that I have found elsewhere on the Internet.
Basically, go to the K menu > Computer > YaST, type in your password, then click on “Software Repositories”.
Click on “Add”, “Next” (Specify URL is the correct option, and is selected by default), and put in the URLs listed. Do each one of these:
You can put in a name if you want, you don’t have to. Afterward, select each of the new repositories, and give them a lower ‘priority’ than the default (99). I use 98, the guy in the article uses 50. Look at the repository URL to make sure you get the right ones (they have ‘factory’ somewhere in the URL).
Click ‘Ok’, and go back to the main YaST Control Center. This time, click on “Software Management”. When it comes up, click the drop-down menu next to the tabs on the top, and click Repositories. There are now three repositories with the KDE logo on them. Click one, and above the list of packages in it is a blue bar with the text “Switch system packages” in blue (looks like a link). Click it. Then, select and do the same to the other repositories with the KDE symbol (the Factory KDE repositories you had just added).
Then, perform an online update, and log in/out (or reboot if you wish).
If you have questions, post back.
Clarification: because even a repository “unstable”?
Thanks

Factory and Extra repos are enough for KDE4.5.
Thanks guys, I am now running 4.5 and I impressed by the speed improvement and some other cool new features of 4.5
