Since it just launched I want to upgrade my 11.3 to it, but this will be the first time I do so, so I don’t know the procedure. Looking for info I found I had two choices, download the ISO (and I don’t have a DVD Burner, so it’s the least preferred option) or perform it via YaST.
Problem is, that one of the listed disadvantages is “if for any reason the upgrade is interrupted (e.g: power outages, network disconnect) and the process can’t continue, you could be left with a broken system (that depends on where the process stopped of course).” I have a problem with my ISP that causes my connection to stop working randomly for like one minute, which obviously stops downloads.
My question is, if the upgrade can’t download something, can it resume the download? or it will “leave me with a broken system”?
Here is a link how to perform a network upgrade. At the bottom of the page you will see an option to download all packages in advance. So if anything doesn’t download properly you will see so before it installs.
It is good to keep your system up to date. 11.4 is now a stable version and has been tested for everyday use, so really there isn’t any reason not to upgrade.
