RIght now, I currently use SuSE 10.3… I want to upgrade to 11.2 so everything works better; however, i don’t want to do a fresh install… If this is not possible or it doesn’t work well, I would like to just keep 10.3 and then install the new version of KDE. I’m not sure how to go about doing that because when I do the 1 click install it doesn’t work too well, seeing that it asks me to install a bunch of things or something of the sort. Should I ignore the requirements or try to fix them one by one? Someone please help me and tell me an easy way to do this 
Support and package building for 10.3 will stop at the release of 11.2, so messing around would help you just for a couple of months.
Then: 11.2 is in it’s beta stage. If you expect the stability of 10.3 please do not go for 11.2 milestones, but download 11.1, burn it, boot from it and perform an ‘Update installed system’ from the installer.
Then again: if you don’t have anything complex in your configuration, you might as well opt for a clean install of 11.1
After doing so, you can add the KDE4:42 repo and update KDE4 from 4.1.3 to 4.2.4

Update KDE4 to 4.2.4

I always recommend the DVD
Don’t try upgrade. Do a fresh install and keep your /home if you want.

I think you should download DVD. Another option is to download the openSUSE KDE-cut CD which has updated (4.2) version of KDE in it. (I haven’t used that myself. So, someone who used it can comment on this).
OK, so suppose I were going to do a fresh install of SuSE to upgrade… Do I have to re-format this partition? Or will it just overwrite the SuSE installation?
You have to format the partition mounted as /
Do not format /home if you want to keep your settings
If you don’t format the chance of remainders of 10.3 is there.
A clean install avoids at least trouble with that
HOw do I do this? format the entire drive after i burn that part on a disc? or does the installation dvd offer that option?
During install use custom partitioning and just select the format button when working with /
